The Collision Reporting Centre is a facility where the public in Peterborough report traffic collisions. However, the Highway Traffic Act requires that all collisions where persons are injured, where damage exceeds a combined value of $1000.00, or where there is damage to highway property, MUST be reported to the police directly. Collision Reporting Centre This facility has been setup for the following reasons: - To facilitate an efficient way of reporting your automobile mishap to the Police.
- To eliminate lengthy, often dangerous waiting periods at the collision scene.
- To allow the Peterborough Lakefield Community Police Service to better allocate their resources to server the public at no cost to the Police or tax payers.
- To provide you with friendly, prompt service while dealing with the aftermath of the collision.
This facility is at no cost to you! Participating insurance companies pay for our services. Filing a Police Report
- Our staff will assist you to complete your Self Report.
- The Police will request your driver's licence, vehicle ownership, and insurance liability care. Please have these available.
- Your vehicle will be inspected, a sticker will be applied to the damaged area, and it will be photograhed.
The 'Damage Reported' sticker indicates that the damage or loss has been reported to the Police. It shold not be removed until the damage or loss is reported to your insurance company and repaired. This sticker provides a means to assist the Police in identifying and controlling hit-and-run drivers. - If your vehicle is non-driveable, we can assist you through the next step in the process towards achieving a speedy claim, gettinng your vehicle to a repair facility, and help you find a rental vehicle.
- We help protect you from fraud by giving you information to make the right choices in resolving your claim.
