Missing Person - Carol Hodge
Carol HodgeThe Peterborough Lakefield Police Service are still searching for Carol Hodge and are requesting the public's assistance in keeping an eye out for her.:

Carol Hodge, age 64, has been missing since Monday, August 9. Carol is described as 152cm, 63kg with short auburn brown hair and gray eyes. Carol normally wears glasses.

Domestic Arrest
The 43 year old accused and 45-year-old female victim have been married for 10 years. On the 26th August at approximately 12:30 pm they began to argue over one of their children attending a sport activity. The accused became very upset and cleared items off the kitchen counter tops onto the floor. He then grabbed the victim by the shirt, threw her onto the couch, and began to choke her.

Eventually the accused released his hold and the police were called. Upon arrival at the residence, police located the accused sitting on the front steps. Officers spoke to the victim and observed slight redness to her neck.

As a result, the accused was arrested for assault and transported to the station where he was lodged in a cell. Throughout the night, the accused continued to be aggressive and eventually damaged a cell in which he was lodged in causing an estimated $400 dollars in damage. The accused has also been charged with mischief. He will appear in court on the 27th August for a bail hearing.
 
Break & Enters
Over the last three days, police have investigated three break and enters to houses in the Francis Stewart sub division. Suspects have been entering these homes mainly through unlocked garage doors. Once inside suspects are taking whatever they can carry with them at the time (IPOD,laptops,cellphones and cash).

Police continue to investigate these incidents. Police would like to remind the public to secure their residence and vehicles at all times in an effort to avoid being a victim of crime.
 
Robbery - Lakefield Subway
On August 25th at approximately 10:45pm, a male suspect entered the Lakefield Subway and demanded cash. The suspect's right hand was kept in the sweater, suggesting a weapon.

The suspect is a white male, approximtely 6'1" 250lbs with short straight dirty blonde hair and unshaven. He was wearing a navy blue hoody with a light green plaid button up shirt underneath. Investigation is continuing. Anyone with information can call Peterborough Police or Crimestoppers.
 
Aggravated Assault
On August 12th at approximately 11:00pm, two brothers got in an altercation in the area of Murray Street. Both had been consuming alcohol. One brother used a broken mug to slash the face of the other causing a wound which required stitches. Witnesses in the area heard the brother with the mug threaten to cut the other's throat.

Both fled the area after police were called. The injured brother was located and went to hospital for treatment. The other was not located and a warrant was issued for his arrest. On August 24th the accused brother was located and arrested in York region. He was returned to Peterborough and appeared in Court on August 25th where he was remanded until August 31th.
 
Break & Enters
Two unlocked garages on Frances Stewart Drive were entered overnight on August 25th. At one residence, a bicycle was stolen from the garage. Value of the bike is $300. At the other residence, the offender(s) continued on into the residence through another unlocked door and stole a purse from the kitchen. Value of the purse and contents is $105.
 
Drug Charges
At approximately 10:30pm on August 24th, an officer conducted a traffic stop for a violation in the area of Brock and Aylmer Street. When an occupant of the vehicle stood to exit the vehicle, a baggy containing what is believed to be cocaine and morphine was exposed within the vehicle.

Charged with three counts of possession of a Schedule 1 substance are Peter Davis, age 67, of Bridgenorth and Tawny Pothier, age 35, of Kingston. Pothier is also charged with breach of undertaking. Davis was released with a Court date of September 16th. Pothier was held in custody and will appear on August 25th.
 
Attempt Break & Enter
On August 21, shortly after 2am, a resident on George Street North was awoken by the neighbour's dog. Nothing seemed amiss at that time, but the next morning the resident noted damage to a window screen, likely an attempted entry.

There have been numerous break and enters over the last few months where entry was gained through insecure doors and windows. Police are working to apprehend the individual(s) responsible. Citizens can be of assistance by doing the following:

  • Locking vehicles, doors and windows.
  • Notifying police when suspicious or unfamiliar people are observed in the area of their residence,
  • Remaining vigilant
 
Breach of Undertaking
In January 2010, a female was arrested for assault and was released on an undertaking with conditions not to consume alcohol.

On August 21st at 4:30pm, police were on general patrol downtown when they observed a female passed out on the sidewalk on Charlotte Street near Louis Street. Police investigated and arrested Jo-Ann Marie Jenkins, age 33, of Mason Avenue. She was held in custody to appear in court on August 21st.
 
Breach of Recognizance
In late July 2010, the courts released a male for drug offences on bail. A condition of his bail was that he abides by a curfew inside his residence. On August 19th, officers observed the male outside his residence past his curfew. The accused Matthew Kellough-Garrett, age 18, of London Street, was arrested on August 20th. The accused was held in custody to appear in court on August 21st.
 
Theft Arrest
On August 10th, a male was visiting friends in Peterborough. The male entered into the apartment unannounced and was seen by the victim going into her purse. The male was confronted regarding the theft, denied it, and left the residence. When the victim checked they found that money had been taken from the purse. The victim then called police and an investigation began.

As a result of the investigation, Andrew Willis Bradley, age 42, of Murray Street has been charged with theft. Bradley is to appear in court on September 9th.
 
Theft Arrest
On June 5th a male entered the Mac’s Milk on King Street and quickly gathered up some food items before fleeing the store without paying for the merchandise. Police were called and attended Mac’s and commenced an investigation. The video footage of the theft was seized and distributed to all the police officers at the station. The accused was recognized by an officer and identified as Daniel Switzer-Robitaille, age 20, of Charlotte Street.

On August 19th, Switzer-Robitaille, was located by officers and arrested for the theft. He was held in custody for court on August 20th.
 
Fail to Comply Arrest
On August 5th the accused, Richard Grangello, was arrested for shoplifting and was released with conditions not to attend Price Choppers, not to consume alcohol and to notify the Peterborough Lakefield Police of any change of his address. On August 16th, police received a call to Price Choppers where they located the accused. The accused was arrested for breaching every one of his conditions. The accused was held until he was sober. The accused is to appear in court on September 2nd.
 
Arrest Theft/Resist Arrest
On the 18th of August, at 12:30 pm the accused James Fenton, age 49, from Hazlitt Street entered Dieter and Darcy’s No Frills grocery store located at 230 George Street North. Fenton was observed selecting a number of items and concealing them under his clothing. Fenton exited the store without paying for these items and was approached by several employees.

He was arrested for theft and brought back into the store. While waiting for police to arrive, Fenton became violent and aggressive. He began to push, kick and punch employees of No Frills in an effort to break free. Police attended and took over the arrest. Fenton was transported to the station. He has been charged with theft under $5000 and assault with intent to resist arrest. Fenton was released and is to appear in court on the 9th of September. There were no reported injuries.
