Break and Enter
On March 11, 2010 sometime between 12:00 pm and 4:00 pm suspects entered a residence on Barnardo Avenue by forcing open a back door. Once inside the residence the suspects removed approximately $500.00 in American money consisting of $50 and $100 bills, two $1.00 Canadian bills, a Hitachi 35 mm camera in a blue canvass bag with shades and zoom lens and 3 bottles of prescription medication.

Counterfeit Money
On March 11, 2010 at approximately 7:40 pm, two males were in the Lansdowne Place Mall food court and made purchases at Tim Hortons and at New York Fries. The males tendered a $100.00 American bill at each location. An employee at one of the businesses became suspicious of the transaction and called police. As a result of the investigation it was determined that the bills were on file as being counterfeit. One suspect is described as being a male, black, with his hair pulled back in a puffy bun, between 20-25 years old, tall with a skinny build, and he was wearing a black winter coat. The second male was black, also tall and skinny with his hair in corn rolls and he was wearing dark clothing.

Drug Arrest
On March 11, 2010 at approximately 12:10 pm officers executed a search warrant at a Johnston Drive residence. As a result of the search, officers located and seized 67 marihuana plants, 238.7 grams marihuana bud, 1 gram of cocaine, a 12-gauge Mossberg shotgun, assorted growing equipment and drug paraphernalia. Total value of the seized drugs is estimated at $70,680.50.

Officers arrested Stephen Sweeting age 55 and his sister Sylvia Sweeting age 51 both of Johnston Drive. Stephen Sweeting has been charged with production of a controlled substance and unauthorized possession of a firearm. Sylvia Sweeting has been charged with production of a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking, possession of a controlled substance and failing to comply with conditions of an undertaking. Both accused have been released from custody and will appear in court on April 1, 2010.
 
MISSING PERSON LOCATED
MARCH 11, 2010

Peterborough Lakefield Community Police located missing person Marlena SHARPE this afternoon. The missing person was found in good health.
 
Arrest Break and Enter
On the morning of March 10, 2010 two males and two female suspects broke into an Edinburgh residence. One of the male suspects assaulted one of the victims. The victim suffered a swollen right cheek and cuts to his nose. The residence did not sustain any damage.

As a result of the investigation police arrested the accused Michelle Tina Kendrick 34 years ols, on March 10, 2010. Kendricks has been charged with Break, Enter with intent and Robbery with violence. Kendrick was held in custody and will appear in court on March 11, 2010.
 
Arrest For Robbery
On February 16, 2010 police responded to Steve’s Quick Chek Convenience Store, 694 Armour Road regarding a robbery. Suspect(s) stole approximately $300 in Canadian Currency.

As a result of the investigation Warren Robert Taylor, 24 years old of Wellington Street, Peterborough was arrested on March 10, 2010. Taylor has been charged with breach of probation, Robbery with a weapon and wearing a disguise while committing a criminal offence. Taylor was held in custody and will appear in Provincial Court on March 11, 2010.
 
Child Pornography Arrest
As a result of an ongoing investigation that commenced in November 2009, officers from the Peterborough Lakefield Community Police Service Sex Crimes Unit arrested Kevan Brownson, age 57, of McDonnel Street on the 8th of March. He has been charged with two counts of possessing child pornography, making child pornography available and printing/publishing child pornography. Brownson was held in custody and appeared in court on the 8th of March. Brownson’s arrest is part of a massive, coordinated, child pornography investigation by the Provincial Strategy to Protect Children from Sexual Abuse and Exploitation on the Internet. Mischief Arrest
On March 7, 2010 at approximately 2:53 pm witnesses called police to report two females at the back of the Peterborough Armouries spray painting graffiti on the walls. When the officers arrived they located the two females in possession of spray paint cans. As a result of the investigation, a 17 year old female and a 15 year old female from Peterborough were arrested and charged with mischief under $5,000.00. They have been released from custody.

The 15 year old accused will appear in court on April 12, 2010 and the 17 year old accused will appear in court on April 5, 2010.
 
Theft From Vehicles
Sometime overnight between the 8th and the 9th of March, suspects entered two vehicles parked on Ridgewood Road. They removed a pair of black-framed Rayban prescription glasses, a pair of silver framed no name glasses and a cell phone ear bud wire from one vehicle and a wallet containing credit cards and personal information from a second vehicle. Drug Arrest
On March 8, 2010 at approximately 9:05 pm officers checked a vehicle on Lansdowne Street near Monaghan Road and noticed several loose prescription pills in the driver’s door armrest. Further investigation revealed that the driver, Justin Patrick Joseph Marchand age 22 of Pochon Avenue in Port Hope, was bound by conditions of a recognizance of bail to abstain from the possession of drugs. He was arrested and when the officers searched the vehicle they located and seized the prescription pills, a black and blue Air Walk knapsack containing 24 DVD movies, 12 video games, 4 computer games, 2 empty CD cases and 1 box of Quick Silver perfume and drug paraphernalia.

Marchand was charged with possession of a controlled substance, possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000.00 and failing to comply with conditions of a recognizance of bail.

The passenger in the vehicle, Lisa Margaret McGlennon age 39 of Dalhousie Street was arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance. Both accused were held in custody and will appear in court later this morning.
 
Robbery
On March 8, 2010 at approximately 9:40 pm the victim, a 20 year old male, was walking west on Brock Street towards Rubidge Street when he heard someone call out to him. He turned around and was confronted by a male who was armed with a knife and demanded his wallet. The victim turned over his wallet containing approximately $240.00 cash. The suspect took off west on Brock Street and was last seen in the area of Rubidge and Kirk Street. He is described as being a white male, approximately 5’8" tall, thin build, in his late 20’s to early 30’s, clean shaven, wearing a thin spring black hooded jacket with two flaps on the side that would fold across the neck and secured by two buttons, a dark green shirt underneath the jacket, blue jeans and white running shoes. Anyone with information is asked to call the Peterborough Lakefield Community Police Service or Crime Stoppers.
 
Robbery
On March 8, 2010 at approximately 12:50 pm, the victim, a 49 year old female, was riding in her motorized wheel chair east on Sunset Boulevard near Greenlawn Avenue. She was carrying a package of cigarettes in her hand when a group of youths consisting of two females and four males approached her. One of the males in the group hit the victim over the head with his backpack and asked for her cigarettes. The victim turned the cigarettes over to the youth and they were last seen heading west on Sunset Boulevard. The victim went home and called the police. The two females in the group were wearing dark purple/burgundy sweaters, and the male who hit her in the head with his backpack was wearing a black and white Nike jacket with a dark hoodie underneath. The youths appeared to be between 12-13 years old. Anyone with information is asked to call the Peterborough Lakefield Community Police Service or Crime Stoppers.
